Procedure

  • Buccal fat pad removal is also known as cheek reduction surgery, this surgery is designed to reduce and remove the fat in the lower part of the cheeks to give a more sculpted look.

Surgical Procedures:

  • Clean your face with sterilizing solution and rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash.
  • Check for blood pressure and heartrate.
  • Apply local anesthesia on both sides of the lower cheek.
  • A small incision is created inside of the mouth, the surgeon will gently remove part of both left and right buccal fat pad. When the Buccal fat pad is removed, the area beneath the cheekbones sinks in and accentuates the high cheekbone appearance. A small incision will be stitch together using dissolvable stitch.
Preoperative
  • Do not eat or drink at least 6 hours before the surgery.
  • Abstain from aspirin, cigarettes, garlic, onions, fish oil, vitamin E and soy products 2 weeks before and after surgery to prevent bruising or severe bleeding.
  • Stop smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages 4 weeks before and after surgery for healing the wound faster.
  • Notify any medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. including any usage of a drug or dietary supplements.
Recovery
  • Swelling typically last 2-3 weeks and will be gradually improved every day.
  • Apply cold compress frequently, as well as eating ice cube for 2 days after surgery.
  • Take soft foods and a regular diet, avoid spicy food, stop smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages for healing the wound faster.
  • Rinse your mouth after finishing your meal to prevent any leftover clotting the incision.
