Procedure

  • Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size more in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with excessively large breasts.
Preoperative

Before Surgery

  • In preparation for the surgery, you are going to be required to:
    • Stop smoking and drinking alcohol.
    • Stop taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, hormonal pills, and herbal supplements since they can increase bleeding at least 1-2 weeks.
    • Stop drinking water at least 6-8 hours before the procedure.
    • People with diseases need surgical clearance from their medical specialist.
Recovery
  • Typically recovery requires one to two weeks. Most patients return to normal activities within that period of time. Strenuous physical activities are discouraged for three to six weeks after the surgery.
