Procedure
Chondrolaryngoplasty (commonly called tracheal shave) is a surgical procedure in which the thyroid cartilage is reduced in size by shaving down the cartilage through an incision in the throat, generally to aid those who are uncomfortable with the girth of their Adam's apple.
Preoperative
Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
Stop smoking
Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding
Stop taking Vitamin at least 2 weeks before surgery
Recovery
The patient can return to work and normal activities within in few days. The patient should not consume alcohol after surgery. Bruising and swelling should have disappeared after several weeks.
